WDHIY Episode 29 - 2-25-26 - Xbox is Dead, Road Rage, and GameTank

Welcome back to another tangent-filled episode of the podcast! Wyatt is finally back from a getaway that tested his patience, and Nick is ready to toll the death knell for a major gaming giant.

Wyatt kicks things off with a potential Chump of the YEAR contender: a late-night drive home that quickly spiraled into a bizarre road-rage incident. Caught in the crossfire between two warring factions, you'll have to listen to the full episode to find out if Wyatt survived.

The boys discuss whether Xbox is officially preparing to abandon its hardware division. Triggered by the news of Phil Spencer's retirement and leadership shakeups involving AI executives, are MS going to turn Xbox into a SaaS brand?

Xbox death brings with it discussion of some odd new recent console projects:

Game Tank: A newly fully-funded, open-source 8-bit console. While Wyatt appreciates the retro homebrew community, Nick questions the $300 price tag for something that looks "3D printed".

Nex Playground: A surprisingly popular, motion-tracking console aimed strictly at kids. Nick is baffled by its massive success at Walmart, though both hosts voice concerns over its "AI magic" camera tracking.

Nick reminds Wyatt to finally play the boomer-shooter rogue-like hybrid: Bloodshed , while Wyatt assigns Nick the 2024 comedy Thelma, a film starring 93-year-old June Squibb and the late Richard Roundtree as they hunt down phone scammers.

Congrats to our first WDHIY giveaway winner - Greg! Keep checking back because there will be more giveaways to come. Nick hates selling things and has too many handhelds. You win.
